Job Description: Non-Emergency Medical Transportation Driver
The Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) Driver is responsible for providing safe, reliable, and courteous transportation services to patients who require assistance getting to and from medical appointments. This role involves transporting individuals who may be elderly, disabled, or have other health conditions that limit their mobility. The NEMT Driver ensures that all passengers receive a comfortable and respectful experience while adhering to all safety regulations and company policies.
Key Responsibilities:
Transport patients to and from medical appointments, ensuring timely arrivals.
Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking from the vehicle, including the use of mobility aids if necessary.
Maintain a clean and well-maintained vehicle, performing routine inspections and reporting any maintenance issues.
Document and report any incidents or accidents occurring during transportation.
Communicate effectively with patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers regarding transportation needs and schedules.
Adhere to all traffic laws and safety regulations while driving.
Provide exceptional customer service to ensure a positive experience for all passengers.
Requirements
Qualifications for Non-Emergency Medical Transportation Driver
Education: A high school diploma or its equivalent is preferred.
Licensing: A valid driver's license with a clean record is required; Must have a Chauffeurs License.
Experience: Prior experience in transportation, healthcare, or customer service is desirable.
Knowledge: Understanding of local roads, traffic laws, and transportation regulations.
Skills:
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Capability to assist passengers with mobility issues.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift and assist passengers as needed and operate a vehicle in a safe manner.
Background Check: Required to pass a criminal background check and drug test.
First Aid/CPR Certification: Have First Aid and CPR certification is preferred or the ability to obtain.
Availability: Must be available to work nights, weekends, early mornings, some holidays and throughout all weather conditions.
